At the opening of our Annual Exhibition 2023, Tony Doohan was awarded honorary lifetime membership for his contribution to the club.
Tony was responsible for organising the first meeting of interested photographers in Celbridge which led to the official formation of CCC in January 1985. He had attended a VEC course on photography run by the late John Reid in 1984. Between Tony, John Reid and Claire Farrell they set about establishing CCC.
Following its establishment Tony was an active member during the early and formative years of the Club. He subsequently provided accommodation free of charge for Club meetings for a considerable period of time and was partly responsible for our move to the Slip Hall in 1990.
Tony is a highly respected member of CCC in good standing and he is also highly respected within the Celbridge community.
Tony has always been a very strong supporter of CCC and it is true to say that he is the original founding member of the Club. He is a true gentleman and is deserving of the highest accolade, which the Club can offer to him. If it were not for Tony’s vision, energy and determination CCC would never have been formed and certainly would never have gone on to be the highly successful club it is today. Tony always promoted photographic excellence within the Club but is equally keen to ensure that the Club’s social aspects Award would be regarded as just as important.
Congratulations Tony!
