Welcome to Celbridge Camera Club
A bit about the Club
If you are a new member or thinking about joining, you are very welcome here.
Celbridge Camera Club has been around since 1985.
During that time photography has evolved from purely film, then to digital and now a mixture of both. Nowadays everyone carries a camera with them in the form of a smart phone.
Social Media has opened many peoples’ eyes to photography and of course the taking of better images.
CCC strives to promote, foster and encourage photography by providing facilities to help people of all skill levels to reach their full potential.
We meet on Monday nights*.
- From September to May inclusive we meet at 8pm in the Slip Hall in Celbridge.
- From June to August inclusive we meet at specific locations to take photographs and share knowledge.
*We don’t meet on bank holidays unless there is a scheduled workshop.
- There is an annual membership fee of €100 per year. See our membership page for more details.
- You don’t need an expensive camera or any particular photographic equipment to join the club; for some new members, a decision on buying a camera that suits their needs is part of the learning process. You may use a smart phone to get started.
What happens at our club meetings?
- At the start of the meeting the Chairperson introduces the content for the night and any other relevant announcements.
- Unless it’s a workshop, we don’t bring cameras.
- The programme varies throughout the year but presentations are given by club members or guest speakers presenting their work or giving tutorials and once a month there is a club competition for those who wish to participate.
- At the end of the night, we have a cup of tea and a chat which is a great way of getting to know people. It can be daunting joining a new group, however we have a specific welcome team to help you blend in and feel welcome.
What happens on Summer Monday nights out?
Once you become a member, you will be added to our WhatsApp/Email list where details of Monday night locations are shared. People often car pool so lifts are always available. These are very social nights and a great way to get to know people. Club members are very willing to assist new members with camera settings and share pointers as to how to take better shots.
Club Activities
Beginners Course
The club run a beginners course every year for new members and sometimes existing members like to do a refresh too. In recent years this has been done over a 6 week period using zoom, and has culminated with an in person practical local outing etc. It covers all skill levels and all camera types and is a great way to get to grips with your camera. Dates and cost will be communicated once finalized each year.
Training & Education Programme
The club runs a programme of training & education which covers areas such as:
- Outdoor landscape workshops
- Studio portraits with the use of club lights
- Outdoor Pet portraiture
- Photo editing skills
Audio Visual Group
The AV group provides training and guidance to those interested in the creation of a presentation that combines still photographs with synchronized audio, such as music, narration, or sound effects. It's a way to enhance storytelling and emotional impact by layering visual and auditory elements.
