The club is planning to publish a 2020 Calendar with the aim of raising some money for the club and for charity. The chosen charity is NCBI (the National Council for the Blind of Ireland).
All members are invited to submit up to 3 images for consideration for the calendar. However, only one image will be chosen from each photographer for the calendar unless fewer photographers submit images than are required for the calendar.
Photos should be taken in Ireland. We are looking for colour photos corresponding to the themes Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter.
The Calendar size is 12.5” x 9” so we are looking for dimensions 3750 wide x 2700 high pixels, otherwise we may need to crop.
The name of the photo should have your competition number, a descriptive or humorous title and where the photo was taken.
No watermarks or copyright symbols please.
There are 12 months and a cover page which will have to be landscape according to the dimensions above.
There are also small photos for each month, approx. 2.5” x 1.75”.
Finally, there is a double page collage consisting of about 20 photos which allows us to use Portrait or Square orientation photos.
In all cases we will give the name of the photographer.
Closing date for submission is 27th September.
Since time is of the essence, the Calendar project is being run by a small team from our committee, Christine Taylor, Maria O’Reilly and Frank Butler, who will select the pictures and lay out the calendar. In the interest of fairness, none of this team will submit photos for consideration.
To submit photos, please email them to Frank at email@example.com putting Calendar 2020 in the title of your email.
Printing costs will be covered by 12 sponsors whose logos will appear on one month each. We have already signed up 10.
Calendars will be priced at €10, however, club members will get 2 free copies each.
We will distribute the Calendar through local shops and businesses – proceeds from shop sales will be shared between NCBI 40%, the club 40% and shop costs 20%.
The calendar layout and design is based on the Countryfile 2019 calendar – you can see some sample images in the gallery below.
